Jane's Guide Here's all the help you need to use Jane.

Enabling Tips in Jane

Do you have clients who wish to leave a little something extra to thank their therapist? If you, or your clinic has opted to allow for clients to leave a tip following their appointment, here’s how you can set that up in Jane!

To enable tips, head to Settings and click Billing Settings from the lefthand side. You can click the checkbox to enable tipping through Jane.

This means there will be an Add Tip option available on your payment pages. To add a tip, mark the appointment as Arrived and click Pay when you’re ready to collect payment.

On the Receive Payment page, click to add a tip. You can choose a percentage, or enter a specific dollar value. Adding a tip will increase the amount owed by the patient for this appointment. Once the tip has been added, you can click Next to receive payment as usual.

The tip will show as a separate line item on invoices for your records.

Jane also compiles a report on all collected tips. To view this report, head to Reports and click Tips on the lefthand side. This report can be filtered by staff member, date range, and location. It can also be exported as an Excel or CSV file as needed.

But what happens if I forget to record a tip on the day of the appointment?

No problem, you can go ahead and record the tip when you remember from the Billing > Payments section of the patient’s profile.

You’ll be able to record who the tip was for and the amount, and then receive payment as usual.

IMPORTANT NOTE: While these tips can be backdated, your Tips Report and the reference to Tips on the Summary Report will always show the date a tip was created. Backdating the tip is mainly going to affect the Compensation report but we would typically recommend leaving the tip date as is - this way it’ll just be included on your Compensation report for the next pay period.
